Expo apps are replacing printed hand outs.

When companies book their exhibit space at trade shows, there are a lot of high dollar items that in-house planners calculate quite easily.

For instance, a 20×20 booth space at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas will set a company back about $25,000.  Yes, I said $25k just for a cement floor in the convention. From there, exhibitors will spend anywhere between $10k and $150k on the construction of an actual booth.  The constructed booth has to be shipped to the convention center, often many days earlier and kept in expensive storage.  At set up time, the booth has to be picked up from storage and brought to the loading dock where the local union takes over and assembles everything at premium pricing. Once the booth is assembled, if you need carpet–it’s extra. If you need power–it’s extra.  If you need an internet connection–it’s extra.  Pretty much anything you need including garbage cans and table clothes–it’s extra.

So, just to give you an idea, a company that selects a 20×20 booth at any of the larger expos has the potential to spend $75,000–just on their exhibit.

Add to that the costs of travel, lodging, employees, petty cash, contests, unforseen expenses, badges, printing, seminars, business socials, stroke dinners and taxis and that same company is flirting with $100,000 for a three day event.
